I think you have confused the role of EA. EA is connected to the company's strategy, understanding which path the company will follow and what the future and trend of technology is to achieve this goal. You are probably talking about SA (Solution Architect), more oriented to technical issues and platform definitions for business verticals. I agree that SA needs to be more up to date with the digital model and help by offering architectural references without taking away the autonomy of Squads.
